Carine Bouzaglou

Founding partner

Carine has spent 15 years working for one of the most prestigious law firms in Canada, both as an associate and as a partner. She has appeared numerous times before the Superior Court and the Court of Appeals. She has argued high profile cases, some of which advanced the law and were being taught in law schools and business schools. She has extensive experience in commercial litigation, including international litigation and class actions. She has worked on many cases involving alleged fraud, privacy violations, violations of the Competition Act and various other subjects. She also has a vast experience in corporate law and can assist entrepreneurs from the creation and organisation of their company to its sale. As a lawyer, she participated in some of the most important mediations in Quebec history. Now a certified mediator herself, she can help you reach a settlement, thereby avoiding the costs and uncertainty of litigation.

During her studies, Carine clerked for the Honourable Justices Claude Champagne and Marc Beaudoin of the Superior Court of Quebec from 2001 to 2002.

Lead counsel successfully dismissing two proposed class actions, with respect to alleged privacy violations and in relation to an IPO, instituted against a social networking website, and counsel coordinating the defence of related class actions throughout Canada.
Lead counsel successfully dismissing a proposed class action against Lance Armstrong.
Lead litigation counsel managing disputes, both before the Courts and regulatory authorities, in various provinces and countries, for an international real estate company.
Lead counsel in an international arbitration, the details of which are confidential.
Counsel in defence of a class action against the Royal Bank of Canada.
Counsel in defence and eventual settlement of a class action against General Motors of Canada in relation to retiree benefits.
Counsel representing advertising companies in defence of a class action alleging privacy violations through Iphone and Ipad apps.
Counsel in defence of a class action alleging a conspiracy to increase the price of ebooks.
Counsel representing one of many defendants in a class action related to one of the biggest frauds in Quebec history, where the damages sought were of $130 million, which case was eventually settled with the approval of the Court.
